Yasmine (17) studies Human Resource Management at the Hogeschool Leiden and works in the HR department of Floral Trade Group.
“In October 2021 I started on the floor at Van der Plas. Because I was looking for an internship, I ended up in the HR team. The atmosphere within Van der Plas is very pleasant, because everyone is enthusiastic and eager to help. Van der Plas is very flexible, so for a side job next to school or study, this is the perfect company! The work in the HR department is very varied. For example, we are involved in drafting, renewing and terminating employment contracts. Recruiting new talent, providing career advice, employee welfare and health, salary and fringe benefits are also discussed. As an HR employee you are the point of contact for colleagues. A rewarding role!”
“Always a surprise what the day brings”
Rinus Deegenaars (18) is studying Commercial Economics at the Hogeschool van Leiden and will switch to Finance & Control / Accountancy. In addition to his studies, he works at Zyon.
“Last summer I came to Zyon through my father. He also works here himself. The diversity makes the work very enjoyable. As a part-timer I am versatile. For example, when processing and clearing incoming flowers and plants, picking orders, packing or building carts. There is a nice working atmosphere, I work with all kinds of different people and I never do the same thing. It is always a surprise what the day brings. I would like to do an internship here for my future education. In this way I get to know the working environment even better and I can gain work experience. Who knows, I may soon be able to work in the finance department with my diploma in my pocket!”
